TheTop 3 Ride Or Die Chicks In The Game 2016

No, I'm not saying Beyoncè or FLOTUS because neither Jay or POTUS are going to jail or  losing their job anytime soon. Yes, we vote November 4th, but Barack isn't losing. You may say to yourself, " Victoria, what qualifies you as a "Ride Or Die", "Down Ass", "100" Chick? Well based off of the following ladies, they stuck by their man, Win, Lose, Or Draw! And no, their last names don't start with a "K" or "J".

3. Nicki Minaj
She stuck by Meek and this boy stay in MAN drama! Does Meek have a fish bowl filled with rappers names, and he just picks random rappers to try and beef with??? Bruh, you didn't learn from Drake? None the less though... Nicki stood by and continues as now he's moved from The Game, to now her ex, Safar-far (I KNOW THAT ISN'T HIS NAME BUT I REFUSE TO CALL A MAN THAT NAME)

2. Keyshia Ka'oir
Play if you want to, but who hold their significant other down, while serving time in jail?... Besides Papoose (Remy Ma got one, before #ForeverDuncan). Keyshia wasn't trying to win when he got out, she held on, on her  own. She didn't get in any mess, she wasn't seen with multiple men, she was on her work until Gucci got out.

1. Melina Trump
She plagiarizes, he grabs... Need I say more?

Ride on!

Tori Talks: Bad Dad Rehab, Dwayne Wade, & Love Jones

Three words: Bad Dad Rehab! Gave me everything. Yes, I know you heard about it! Bad Dad Rehab premiered on TV ONE on July 4th! While you all were out popping these fireworks, the real explosion was on screen. As a single mother, I wish I could've seen this movie 8 years ago. My daughter being 11, this movie definitely could have helped me discover the real purpose of a father. Knowing what I know now, I would've created the rehab myself. Lol! You can see more about Bad Dad Rehab here
instagram

Say what you will, but this dad just made the decision as a free agent to sign to a two year contract with the Chicago Bulls, for $47 million dollars. Souces say, Wade passed up a $40 million contract the Miami had for him on the table. Ouch! Is it me or is the league becoming a big trading pool? Wade, speaks on his decision more, saying, "Watching the Bulls growing up inspired me at an early age to pursue my dream of becoming a basketball player," Wade wrote to the AP. "My most treasured memories were watching my dad play basketball on the courts of Fermi Elementary School and developing my game at the Blue Island Recreation Center. I have never forgotten where I came from and I am thankful to have an opportunity to play for the team that first fueled my love of the game.". To be honest, I had a difficult time keeping up with teams since the Big 3 split from Boston Celtics. Where is the Love?
instagram
You know where the real love is? MC Lyte posted that she is bringing to the stage, Love Jones The Musical. Are you ready for it? Well the cast apparently includes, Raheem DeVaughn, Musiq Soulchild, Chrisette Michele, Dave Hollister , and Marsha Ambrosius. As a former thespian and a 90's lover at heart, I hope this is not one of those productions we are ashamed to talk about years from now. I love MC Lyte, but you remember that one time, that one television host, produced that one movie... about R&B Princess Aaliyah? *crickets*

Tori Talks: Kanye , BET Awards, and Pride

This weekend was crazy, so much going on and it felt like so little time. Kanye West is back at, releasing a visual that many would consider disturbing. Kanyes' video, "Famous" has him in bed with Kim, Taylor Swift, Chris Brown, Riahnna, Ray J, Cailtyn Jenner, Amber Rose and more. I guess when you become famous, the level of creativity is endless. Now, you know Taylor isn't happy because she still thinks what Kanye did back in the day, didn't make her famous, but before that historical Kanye outburst, many of you looked at her like, "how did she beat Beyoncè?"  Check out Riahnna's response here

BET got a major response with their classic tribute to the purple one. No, not me , but one and only
Prince!! They did not only one but 3 part tribute! They took over Nickelodeon man!!! These kids have had a chance to view what a Prince tribute is supposed to be like. It was major talent that hit the stage.
Yet, everyone wants to look beyond Usher singing. Did he forget the words? Was he nervous because he was wearing a shirt saying, "Don't Trump America". I'm just wondering, because it's a handful of artist that can age well and perform. Usher you were on that list, what happened?

I'll tell you what did happen, PRIDE in Saint Louis. Did the shooting in Orlando put fear in people wanting to be free? Or did it prove that in this society, the only thing to fear is people that think we should all be the same.

Tori Talks: dating, TOP 3 spots to NOT look for a mate, and more

It's been over a year since I blogged about "Living Single", and is it me that's been living the longest episode of Living Single, My Crazy Ex, and a pinch of those VH1 Reality Tv shows?? It's bad enough Prince, David Bowie and Muhammad Ali have moved on.... but what crazy line did I sit in to have to deal with half of the mess I deal with out here.

So as I proceed, I'll let you know what I still can't wrap my brain around. This society is the most difficult to figure out. So I found myself trying to open up and trust... and guess what? I got nothing! Absolutely nothing, like my brain is like, "Damn! I told you to let me take over." The hardest part about our society, they label unmarried women from the age of 27-35 but the men that age from my experience are sick and deranged.

Today you're going to learn the TOP 3 spots to NOT look for a mate:
1)Don't try date sites... they are crazier because you don't know their circle and why the hell are they on there!? Don't Do it! No Tinder, No Christian Mingle... etc!

2) Nightclubs are full of married," wanna be" single men or single men that you wish were in relationships because they are the most irritating.

3. Church, at one point it was a good place, but now the church is full of the single creeps that were told church is where you find a woman.

At this point in my life, have a real conversation with the person of interest. Figure out what they sound like when they are passionate about something. Know that this person just can't text a paragraph text, but they can talk. Yes, talk! Did I scare you with that one? The problem in our society, we don't find ourselves talking until it's too late.  Now am I getting ready to take my own advice??? Actually, I'm just getting ready to focus on me. I'm feeling a lot like America after we break up with Barack, feeling the need to learn more about me. Yes, I may develop a selfishness about myself, but you know... I'm cool with taking myself on a date. Victoria! Party of one!

Teese 2016

Teese 2016
Yo! So tonight I hit the streets and because it's was something going on in my neck of the woods, I had to stop by! Teese 2016 , was a new flavor and definitely the place to be! For someone like me, > a workaholic that likes a chill scene! I stepped out fresh in my Think Smart jersey and checked out a lot of talent that graced the city of Saint Louis. Located in the Old North, where every First Friday is Art Walk. Tonight the creative energy was in the air of the new self proclaimed art district of the North Side.
True we've had our share of bad news in the media but one thing about my city that I love...We can do amazing things when we put our minds to work. And if you've never been to a Teese Party, your bad! Check out the pics and I hope to catch you never year! Teese 2016

Tisha Campbell ain't Gina, She's a lazy bitch

Tisha Cambell -Martin and Tichina Arnold on the set of Martin
Damn Gina!! Ok let me not say that too loud and Tisha Campbell try not to come for me because the LAZY BITCH she is. LOL!! I promise if you haven't heard this damn song by Tisha Campbell!!!! Yes the song is called Lazy Bitch and one would say she's maybe a little too seasoned to perform a song like this but I always say, you're as young as you feel.
Gina ass read a book to few and told all you heffas to have several seats, LOL!! I mean the lyrics are very focused. Tisha rocks out letting you know you are all her children, but who is she referring to? Could it be that Gina... I mean Tisha Campbell gave a lot of ungrateful folks their path? Tell me if I'm lying but growing up in the late 80's and early 90's you wanted to be Chiffon (Little Shop of Horrors) , Jane Toussaint (School Daze) , Gina (Martin), and lets not forget Sydney (House Party)! Truth be told Tisha Campbell did get to the level where every female wanted to be her and every man to be with her. As she always was admired by me for her craft of acting and singing, Lazy Bitch is different and not expected but it reminds me of a little Beyoncé like... I'll take it Mrs, Campbell-Martin!

Monday Motivation

Ray Lewis and Victoria
All my latest conversations have revolved around the topic of findings your purpose. I will be honest, I want to do everything, so when I'm asked , "what are you capable of doing?" My reply can be,"everything".
Not too long ago I joined the class of the parents and soon-to-be parents of high school students. To speak to these young individuals, only feeling like I was speaking to a reflection of my teen self. It was an eye opener and gave me the ability to see a purpose in myself.

Then this past weekend I got to meet former NFL player, Ray Lewis and his uncle introduced him, he stated everything this man had done great, but passionately said, "his next move is his best move". With that said as you find your purpose, remember your best is yet to come. Why? Because...

1. I am destined to be great
2. I'm not in control of the cards dealt, but my purpose is in the right direction.
3. I'm here to not only exist, but live.
4. Not matter the trials to get there, my outcome will be greater.
5. I'm doing my best at all times.

Monday Motivation

I've hit the gym recently and damn well, if I do say so myself. I'm not one for a New Year resolutions but my goal this year is to get back being active. So, yes I still do me but dedicated at least 5 hours a week to the gym. Today I needed that motivation as I felt a little shaky trying to get my body right. No, I'm not looking to have the unrealistic body. Come on now! I am  5'7", not meant to have a 20 inch waist. LOL! So as I tell myself to get to that last twenty minutes left of my workouts, you tell yourself to get through this week, because you know what?? We aren't perfect and always in the need for an extra push to help us through!

1. Everyday I am becoming healthier

2.  I'm happy making my body better.

3. I'm breathing in all the good vibes in and out with the bad.

4. No one is going to stop me from achieving my goal.

5.  I am stronger today than yesterday and I'll be stronger tomorrow.

Chris Rock sprinkled black in the Oscars

As the Oscars opens up the show with a video reel of movies and Chris Rock, brings it in with a joke, mentioning there was at least 15 black people in the reel. Which it was! Less black people were nominated for The Oscars. He goes on to say how Will and Jada are mad about Will Smith not being nominated but Chris hits them with the line in regards to Jada that the Oscars for Jada is equivalent to Chris Rock and Rihanna's panties... both Jada and Chris... not invited. Damn!!

Chris Rock got a little serious for us too, saying how as the Oscars have been going on for 88 years now and black people never protested the prior Oscar awards, because black people had more serious things to protest. True! But does it still make it ok?
All around, with bringing Stacey Dash out to the stage for her  to say, "I can't wait to help my people out, Happy Black History Month" and the parodies of nominated movies with black actresses and actors in them. Chris Rock did what he knows best, he made people around him feel uncomfortable. He shook it up for sure, is it enough to make sure this is the last year that no black actors or Leonardo DiCaprio go unnoticed... Again? Oh but wait! Even Leo won! Finally and he didn't have to be a crackhead, crooked cop, or a whore on screen to do it!
If you didn't watch The Oscars, catch the memes. I'm sure they will all be about Chris Rock and Kevin Hart. Lets be honest though, at 8pm I tuned to watch the much anticipated Walking Dead! Gotta love them damn zombies!

Flint Water Drive

If you don't know about the water crisis in Flint, you should know. Just imagine doing all of your everyday things, like brushing your teeth, washing your face, taking a shower, and so much more that we take for granted. Now being limited to a case of water to complete all that. This problem has been going on for over a year now and thanks to the people listening, the world opened up their ears and their heart to contribute with the families in Flint, Michighan.
This past weekend Radio One Saint Louis partnered up with Project Compassion NFP, The Korey Johnson Foundation, and Beyond Limits Production to make an everlasting memory. As they reached out to the community to collect a goal of one thousand cases of water.
The community came out in droves as the on-air talents such as; Boogie-D, Meghan O, and A-Plus of Hot 104.1 and Staci-Static, DJ Kut, and DJ Quinn of Old School 95.5 jumped on the airwaves to encourage people to bring out the water for the people of Flint, Michigan.
Instead of reaching their goal, they exceed it, by collecting seven thousand cases of water. Radio One Saint Louis and friends came together to make sure that the families of Flint, Michigan know they aren't alone.
To be on site it brought a feeling that made you see that there are humans in this wild world. It also made you feel like no matter had bad you think you have it, somewhere someone is going through it worse. As a community to see people not thinking about themselves was refreshing and yes there have been several water drives for Flint, but is it ever really enough?

Faith in the stars. I'm gon' do what I want, cause this life's what I'm given. Gotta keep my faith in the dark clouds.-Drake (Faith ft. K-OS)

Monday Motivation

It's been a week for the books. It gets to you sometimes, but don't let it knock you down. Lately, been hearing; find a fall back plan, stay in your lane, focus on one thing, but if you're a lot like me... Staying put on one line is impossible. Hell I'll color outside the lines, just to address the fact that Victoria cannot be confined and neither can you. So this week tell yourself:

1. I'm focused on my future.
2. I'm not settling for second best.
3. My is to be desire to be great and I will be.
4. I'm doing the best I can do I put my hands on.
5. Everyday I'm closer to the plan set out for me!

Movie Review : RACE (2016)

When you think of Jesse Owens, you think legendary, encouraging, power, and strength. That's exactly what the movie RACE showed. This movie was one for the books, a movie that gave a highlight to history. RACE, set up to the background of the man who was Jesse "JC" Owens. RACE, showed how as a young black man that once picked cotton journeyed to become the fastest man on earth.
Setting  mostly, during the training and trials that got Jesse Owens to the 1936, Berlin Olympics. The Berlin Olympics, still had major politics behind it. Nazi Germans hated seeing the site of Jesse Owens, win race after race but Hitlers hate is said to be the reason behind Jesse's 4th gold medal. A Jewish person winning was harder to stomach than see the n***a win. Regardless the politics behind the 1936 Berlin Olympics, RACE gave the outstanding highlight that athletes, no matter what ethnicity can find a friend, due to the fascination of the challenge and love of the sport.
"Out there, there ain't no black or white, just fast or slow"
(-Stephan James as Jesse Owens/Race 2016)
Director, Stephen Hopkins, portrayed the harsh reality that is still shown today, just not as "in your face" now as it was then. The reality,  that Jesse Owens, four-time gold medal Olympic champion, regardless... once a n***a,  always a n***a from Berlin to USA. RACE took no sugarcoating of the truths behind the many hurdles faced by Owens. In every inch of the movie, you put yourself in his track shoes.

Is this movie award worthy? YES! (#OSCARSSOWHITE). Hands down, Stephan James, gave a powerful portrayal of the late and great Jesse Owens. As Jason Sudeikis, wins me over as Coach Lawrence Snyder that believed and lived vicariously through Owens.

You can't say Victoria didn't say it! I give RACE 5 out of 5 purple hearts! A major must see! For everyone who knows to those that don't know the history! You'll want to learn and love this movie!

Formation ALRIGHT!!!

Not everyone watches the Grammy's or The Superbowl, but by far if the awards had to go to the most influential performances of 2016... Hands down!!! Beyoncé of Super Bowl 50 and Kendrick Lamar of The Grammy's. Now if you haven't caught either one of these performances, it's time to wake up from underneath the rock you've been sleep under. Both artist displayed the most creative and strongest performances of BLACK UNITY.

Yes, Beyoncé marched out in all black performing as the head of the Black Panther party. Black women seductively strong and committed to the cause. Her idea showed that we have had enough, enough police brutality! Enough of the lack of BLACK UNITY! Regardless of Mayor Giuliani and his attacks on her performance, everyone knows the frustration and black people are no longer in silence.

Then Kendrick Lamar, this man comes to the stage, in prison garments, beaten and bruised. He breaks free of the chains to go and perform with the African dancers. To many you may have been lost in translation, but again he promoted BLACK UNITY during the song "Alright". This song alone screams the cries of hip-hop and Kendrick Lamar the man people jokingly but seriously think this could have been Kanye West... am I lying!!???
