Monday Motivation

Ray Lewis and Victoria
All my latest conversations have revolved around the topic of findings your purpose. I will be honest, I want to do everything, so when I'm asked , "what are you capable of doing?" My reply can be,"everything".
Not too long ago I joined the class of the parents and soon-to-be parents of high school students. To speak to these young individuals, only feeling like I was speaking to a reflection of my teen self. It was an eye opener and gave me the ability to see a purpose in myself.

Then this past weekend I got to meet former NFL player, Ray Lewis and his uncle introduced him, he stated everything this man had done great, but passionately said, "his next move is his best move". With that said as you find your purpose, remember your best is yet to come. Why? Because...

1. I am destined to be great
2. I'm not in control of the cards dealt, but my purpose is in the right direction.
3. I'm here to not only exist, but live.
4. Not matter the trials to get there, my outcome will be greater.
5. I'm doing my best at all times.

Monday Motivation

I've hit the gym recently and damn well, if I do say so myself. I'm not one for a New Year resolutions but my goal this year is to get back being active. So, yes I still do me but dedicated at least 5 hours a week to the gym. Today I needed that motivation as I felt a little shaky trying to get my body right. No, I'm not looking to have the unrealistic body. Come on now! I am  5'7", not meant to have a 20 inch waist. LOL! So as I tell myself to get to that last twenty minutes left of my workouts, you tell yourself to get through this week, because you know what?? We aren't perfect and always in the need for an extra push to help us through!

1. Everyday I am becoming healthier

2.  I'm happy making my body better.

3. I'm breathing in all the good vibes in and out with the bad.

4. No one is going to stop me from achieving my goal.

5.  I am stronger today than yesterday and I'll be stronger tomorrow.

Movie Review : RACE (2016)

When you think of Jesse Owens, you think legendary, encouraging, power, and strength. That's exactly what the movie RACE showed. This movie was one for the books, a movie that gave a highlight to history. RACE, set up to the background of the man who was Jesse "JC" Owens. RACE, showed how as a young black man that once picked cotton journeyed to become the fastest man on earth.
Setting  mostly, during the training and trials that got Jesse Owens to the 1936, Berlin Olympics. The Berlin Olympics, still had major politics behind it. Nazi Germans hated seeing the site of Jesse Owens, win race after race but Hitlers hate is said to be the reason behind Jesse's 4th gold medal. A Jewish person winning was harder to stomach than see the n***a win. Regardless the politics behind the 1936 Berlin Olympics, RACE gave the outstanding highlight that athletes, no matter what ethnicity can find a friend, due to the fascination of the challenge and love of the sport.
"Out there, there ain't no black or white, just fast or slow"
(-Stephan James as Jesse Owens/Race 2016)
Director, Stephen Hopkins, portrayed the harsh reality that is still shown today, just not as "in your face" now as it was then. The reality,  that Jesse Owens, four-time gold medal Olympic champion, regardless... once a n***a,  always a n***a from Berlin to USA. RACE took no sugarcoating of the truths behind the many hurdles faced by Owens. In every inch of the movie, you put yourself in his track shoes.

Is this movie award worthy? YES! (#OSCARSSOWHITE). Hands down, Stephan James, gave a powerful portrayal of the late and great Jesse Owens. As Jason Sudeikis, wins me over as Coach Lawrence Snyder that believed and lived vicariously through Owens.

You can't say Victoria didn't say it! I give RACE 5 out of 5 purple hearts! A major must see! For everyone who knows to those that don't know the history! You'll want to learn and love this movie!

Formation ALRIGHT!!!

Not everyone watches the Grammy's or The Superbowl, but by far if the awards had to go to the most influential performances of 2016... Hands down!!! Beyoncé of Super Bowl 50 and Kendrick Lamar of The Grammy's. Now if you haven't caught either one of these performances, it's time to wake up from underneath the rock you've been sleep under. Both artist displayed the most creative and strongest performances of BLACK UNITY.

Yes, Beyoncé marched out in all black performing as the head of the Black Panther party. Black women seductively strong and committed to the cause. Her idea showed that we have had enough, enough police brutality! Enough of the lack of BLACK UNITY! Regardless of Mayor Giuliani and his attacks on her performance, everyone knows the frustration and black people are no longer in silence.

Then Kendrick Lamar, this man comes to the stage, in prison garments, beaten and bruised. He breaks free of the chains to go and perform with the African dancers. To many you may have been lost in translation, but again he promoted BLACK UNITY during the song "Alright". This song alone screams the cries of hip-hop and Kendrick Lamar the man people jokingly but seriously think this could have been Kanye West... am I lying!!???
